2014 Schedule

All events listed in this section have been officially sanctioned by the 33rd Regiment of Foot, Inc.

If any member wishes to add an event to our official schedule, please contact us at 33rd-foot@att.net Remember - our insurance is not in effect if we have not sanctioned the event!

Friday, 4 April
  • Mark Keppel Elementary School Colonial Fair. In Glendale.
  • The Mark Keppel School Colonial Fair has had us as a main attraction for several years now. We even get to fire muskets at this one! WE NEED A SOLDIER!!! We also need other civilian presenters.
  • Monday, 19 May
  • School Talk for the Shelyn School
  • We return to the school that Started It All! Please volunteer to speak at the Shelyn School in Rowland Heights. This is the school where we gave our first school talk over twenty years ago. We get to fire our muskets at this one!
  • Saturday - Monday, 24 - 26 May, Memorial Day Weekend
  • Colonial Fair West
  • This is an all Colonial period weekend featuring camping, shooting, and scouting at a private site two hours East of Los Angeles. We will be firing both ball and blank ammunition. There are competitions, prizes, and blanket trading, as well as the good company of the 18th Century history commuity in Southern California.
  • Saturday - Sunday, 15 - 16 June
  • 236th Anniversary of The Battle of Monmouth - Freehold New Jersey
  • We have sanctioned this event so that our Back East members may participate under our insurance. This is the same weekend as the Pirate Festival, but of course West Coast members are welcome to go as well! If you plan to go you must be registered! To register send an email so we can put you on the official event registration form.
  • Saturday - Sunday, 14 - 15 June
  • The Northern California Pirate Festival
  • Those of us who are not going to Monmouth might relish this opportunity to represent duly constituted authority in service with the Governor of the Bahamas in 1718 (this is a bit of a stretch). This is a sanctioned event - we get to fire our muskets! Now that UTR is cancelled, why not make more of this event? We have been looking to get together with the 2nd Platoon for a drill, this would be an ideal venue to get in lots of drill, and otherwise perform an entirely historically correct function of the 33rd; when on duty in England regiments were typically broken up into smaller units to patrol against smuggling and pirate activity. Even though we will be VASTLY outnumbered by pirates, we still owe our duty to the King to represent the forces of law and order. Besides, it will be a chance to interpret what we do in a slightly more relaxed format. This does not mean we may relax our standards!
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 27, 28, 29 June 2014
  • In case anyone missed it, Under the Redcoat 2014 is CANCELLED!!!
  • Saturday, Sunday - 12, 13 July 2014
  • Old Fort MacArthur Days is a time-line event situated on the grounds of Fort MacArthur in San Pedro. We had a great time in 2013, and are looking forward to 2014.
  • Saturday, Sunday, 12 - 13 July 2014
  • British Brigade & Continental Line at Wyoming Valley Massacre, Mt. Ariel, PA
  • A National Event Sponsored by the Continental Line and British Brigade. Who doesn't like a good massacre? It has been sanctioned as an official 33rd Inc. event, for those of our Back East members who are not doing OFMD the same weekend.
  • Saturday, Sunday 13 - 14 September - Nevada City Revolutionary War Days
  • Sanctioned event. It's a beautiful venue, and looks like a fun event. Let's try to get more members out at this one! It is not very airport friendly (70 miles from Sacramento) but it is doable. There are a dismaying number of Delaware Regiment soldiers present. We need to see more Redcoats!
  • Saturday, Sunday - 25 - 26 October
  • British Brigade & Continental Line at Mt. Harmon Plantation, Earleville, MD
  • Sanctioned event. In the absence of UTR there may be a desire to travel to the second big battle event of the year. October airfares are lower then June peak travel season. Earleville, Maryland is evenly split between Philadelphia and Baltimore, so it would be possible to do over a weekend. We haven't done a battle event since the Guilford 225th in 2006, and many of our newer members have never done a battle event with the 33rd at all. We should seriously consider this!

  • All the events listed in this section are posted for informational purposes. The members may request the Executive Board to sanction them as 33rd Foot events. If there are any other events that the members wish to have sanctioned, please write.

    12 - 20 April, 2014
  • Hart Canyon Rendezvous
  • This is a fun venue, and a great chance for us to mingle with other black powder shooters in the Southern California area. We shoot ball ammunition! The modest entry/camping fee permits us to join in the shooting competition. It's a great chance for us to put our period living skills into action! We are welcome to camp all week.
  • Labor Day Weekend, 29 - 30, August, 1 September
  • Big Horn Mountain Men Rendezvous
  • Like the Hart Canyon Rendezvous, this is a fun venue, and a great chance for us to mingle with other black powder shooters in the Southern California area. We are welcome to camp all week.
