UTR 2014 is cancelled

Colonial Williamsburg will not present Under the Redcoat for the year 2014.

Colonial Williamsburg's Director of Revolutionary City Programs has sent a letter to the UTR unit commanders apologizing for the necessity.

Colonial Williamsburg is very pleased with UTR as a program: “I want to thank each of you and your unit members for a successful 2013 year of reenactor events. Since the inception of our annual reenactor events you have presented quality interpretations and programs greatly enjoyed by our guests and your continued support of these reenactor programs is greatly appreciated.”

For 2014, Colonial Williamsburg is re-examining its programming priorities. This will be a wholesale re-work of the programming they present throughout the year, and in light of the resources they need to commit to this, they have reluctantly decided to cancel the reenactor weekends Under the Redcoat and Prelude to Victory.

This does not meant that UTR and PTV will never come back! “We are committed to both Under the Redcoat and Prelude to Victory and look to have both events return in the future and hope we can count on your continued support as the decision for not doing these events in 2014 is no reflection on the quality of interpretation and programming presented by the units and their individual members.”
